Elegant play and tactical brilliance
Juan Martín Díaz was padel's first enduring king. Born in Lugo, Spain, in 1975, he was ranked world #1 from 2000 to 2015, collected 13 World Championship titles and over 170 tournament victories, and earned induction into the Padel Hall of Fame. Nicknamed 'El Galleguito', he turned elegance into dominance across fifteen years at the very top.
History remembers him above all for the partnership with Fernando Belasteguín — arguably the greatest duo ever assembled — which ruled the tour for more than a decade. A master tactician with a surgeon's touch, Juango played as if the ball answered to him personally. Younger stars grew up watching him, and even after his 2022 retirement his name remains shorthand for court craft in its purest form.
A master tactician known for his elegant style and court vision. His partnership with Belasteguín dominated the sport for over a decade.
A Hall of Famer and 13-time world champion whose decade-long reign with Belasteguín set the standard for partnerships in padel.
